Hard Skin are a London punk band known for their uncompromising take on Oi!, combining blunt guitar riffs, singalong choruses and a sharp sense of humour. Formed in the 1990s, the group have established a cult reputation within the British punk underground by embracing the direct musical traditions of classic street punk while adding their own irreverent personality. Their straightforward approach celebrates punk music without unnecessary polish or pretence.
Across releases including Hard Nuts and Hard Cunts, Same Meat Different Gravy and On the Balls, Hard Skin have built a catalogue rooted in loud guitars, direct rhythms and choruses designed for audience participation. Their music draws knowingly on the sound and imagery of traditional Oi!, while humour and satire help give the band a character that distinguishes them from more conventional punk acts.
Hard Skin concerts are built around volume, energy and the communal appeal of punk rock. The simplicity and directness of the songs make them particularly effective in packed venues, where choruses can quickly turn into mass singalongs and the separation between band and crowd becomes increasingly small. For fans of Oi!, street punk and British underground music, a Hard Skin show offers a loud and entertaining celebration of punk's enduring DIY spirit.
