Jah Wobble is an influential English bassist, composer and musician whose unmistakable bass sound has played an important role in post punk, dub and experimental music. He first gained widespread recognition as the original bassist of Public Image Ltd, contributing to recordings that helped reshape the possibilities of post punk. He later developed a wide ranging career through Jah Wobble's Invaders of the Heart and numerous collaborations.
The music of Jah Wobble and Invaders of the Heart draws deeply from dub while incorporating world music, rock, experimental sounds and rhythmic improvisation. Wobble's powerful bass playing remains at the centre, creating deep grooves around which the other instruments can expand and explore. His willingness to cross musical boundaries has resulted in a catalogue that remains adventurous and difficult to confine to a single genre.
Live, Jah Wobble and Invaders of the Heart turn those influences into a rhythmic and immersive concert experience. The bass has a physical presence in the room, while the musicians build grooves that can move from hypnotic passages into energetic improvisation. For fans of dub, post punk and adventurous live music, seeing Jah Wobble and Invaders of the Heart offers the chance to experience a genuinely distinctive figure in British music.
