Exactly 15 years since mega UK boy band, JLS, first shot to No1 with their debut single ‘Beat Again’, in July 2009, the London boys announce a special one-off mega summer outdoor show at Shrewsbury The Quarry in Sunday 14 July 2024. Currently wowing audiences on their 18-date UK Arena tour this autumn, Brit Award winning phenomenons of pop, JLS, today announce they’ll be bringing all the JLS hits, energy and charisma of the arena tour, but with the added freedom of the Great British countryside, as you get to experience the JLS stars under the magic of a starry night at The Quarry Park.
JLS, an acronym for "Jack the Lad Swing," is a prominent English boy band, originally founded by Oritsé Williams. They rose to fame as runners-up in the fifth season of the ITV reality show, The X Factor, in 2008, narrowly losing to Alexandra Burke. After their noteworthy stint on The X Factor, JLS secured a contract with Epic Records.
Their debut singles, "Beat Again" and "Everybody in Love," both soared to the number one spot on the UK Singles Chart. The eponymous debut album, "JLS," was released in 2009 and achieved impressive sales, surpassing one million copies in the UK. Their success was rewarded with several prestigious awards, including British Breakthrough and British Single at the 2010 BRIT Awards and several MOBO Awards.
Notably, JLS claimed the title of the UK's hardest-working band in both 2011 and 2012. Their widespread appeal prompted a record deal with US label Jive Records, although their debut US single, "Everybody in Love," did not make a substantial impact.
The band released several chart-toppers in the UK, such as "The Club Is Alive" and "Love You More." By 2012, JLS's debut album and single were celebrated as two of The X Factor's top ten best-selling debuts. The group members individually ranked among the 16th-richest reality TV stars in the UK, each amassing an estimated £6 million, yielding a combined financial worth of around £24 million.
In 2013, after seven years of success, JLS announced their separation following the release of a greatest hits album and a farewell UK and Ireland arena tour. In February 2020, they thrilled fans with news of a reunion, planning to embark on the Beat Again Tour, initially set for November 2020 but postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and later rescheduled to October 2021.
Their contributions to the music industry have earned them certifications for 2.3 million albums and 3.4 million singles in the UK, according to the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).
In November 2019, JLS made headlines by hinting at their return as a band, announcing plans for a tour and new music. This was officially confirmed in February 2020 when they revealed their reunion for the Beat Again Tour. Additionally, in March 2021, JLS signed a new record deal with BMG to create new music. Their single "Eternal Love" was released in September 2021, serving as the lead single from their fifth studio album, "2.0."
JLS will embark on "The Club Is Alive: 2025 Hits Tour" in November 2025, with 16 dates across the UK and Ireland.
