Kelly Moran is an American composer, pianist and producer known for adventurous music that brings acoustic piano together with electronic experimentation and contemporary composition. Her distinctive approach has established her as an acclaimed voice in experimental music, with compositions that explore the physical and emotional possibilities of the piano while embracing technology, unusual textures and intricate layers of sound.
Moran attracted widespread attention with releases including Bloodroot and Ultraviolet, the latter released by Warp Records. Her work with prepared piano, where objects and techniques alter the instrument's conventional sound, allows familiar piano tones to evolve into striking rhythmic and atmospheric textures. Across her recordings, classical influences meet electronic production and improvisation, resulting in music that feels both carefully constructed and constantly in motion.
Kelly Moran concerts offer the opportunity to hear these detailed compositions take on a new dimension in a live environment. The combination of piano technique, electronic sound and experimentation creates performances that can shift from delicate and meditative passages to expansive waves of rhythm and texture. For fans of contemporary classical music, ambient sounds and experimental electronica, seeing Kelly Moran live offers an absorbing journey through the possibilities of modern piano music.
