Lakes are a British alternative band from Watford whose intricate guitars, heartfelt vocals, and emotionally direct songwriting bring together elements of emo, indie rock, and math rock. Built around a collaborative approach to musicianship, the band create detailed arrangements where interlocking guitar lines and melodic rhythms sit alongside reflective lyrics about relationships, uncertainty, growth, and everyday life. Albums including The Constance LP and Start Again have helped Lakes develop a loyal following within the UK independent and alternative music community.

Live, Lakes translate their carefully constructed recordings into performances that balance technical musicianship with genuine emotional warmth. Layered guitars weave around one another while shared vocals and dynamic rhythms give the songs a richer, more immediate character on stage. The band's ability to move between delicate passages and uplifting crescendos creates a communal atmosphere, particularly when audiences join in with the melodies and lyrics that have become favourites among dedicated fans.

For fans of emo, math rock, and melodic alternative music, seeing Lakes live offers an opportunity to experience their intricate songwriting with all the energy and connection of a concert setting. Thoughtful lyrics, distinctive guitar work, and a strong sense of musical chemistry make their shows an inviting experience for longtime followers and anyone discovering the band for the first time.
