Laufey is an Icelandic-Chinese singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who has become one of the most exciting new voices redefining modern jazz and classical pop. Blending vintage sophistication with heartfelt lyricism, she bridges the gap between generations breathing new life into the sounds of Ella Fitzgerald, Chet Baker, and Norah Jones for a contemporary audience.

Born Laufey Lin Jónsdóttir in Reykjavík, Laufey’s musical journey began early. Raised in a family of classical musicians, she studied cello and piano before discovering her voice as a jazz singer. After gaining recognition on Iceland’s Got Talent and The Voice Iceland, she moved to the United States to study at Berklee College of Music, where she began releasing her own music during the pandemic.

Her debut EP, Typical of Me (2021), introduced her nostalgic, intimate sound through songs like Street by Street and Best Friend. It was followed by her first full-length album, Everything I Know About Love (2022), which beautifully captured the innocence, melancholy, and wonder of young adulthood. Tracks such as Valentine and Fragile quickly became fan favourites, earning her widespread acclaim and a devoted global following.

In 2023, Laufey released her second album, Bewitched, a lush orchestral project that solidified her as one of the leading figures in the modern jazz revival. The album, featuring the viral hit From the Start and the hauntingly elegant title track Bewitched, earned her a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Its success marked a milestone in bringing jazz-inspired music back into the mainstream.
