MAQUINA are a Portuguese trio whose intense sound brings together elements of rock, electronic music, industrial textures and repetitive rhythms. Emerging from Lisbon's alternative music scene, the group have developed a distinctive approach based on repetition, physical momentum and the hypnotic possibilities of rhythm. Their music combines the direct impact of a rock band with an experimental attitude that pushes familiar structures into heavier and more unpredictable territory.
Built around bass, drums and guitar, MAQUINA use repetition as a creative force, allowing grooves to grow, mutate and accumulate intensity. Their compositions can move between post punk urgency, industrial weight and dance influenced propulsion, creating a sound that feels equally suited to adventurous rock audiences and listeners interested in experimental electronic music. This combination has helped the band establish a strong identity within contemporary European alternative music.
Live, MAQUINA turn their rhythmic approach into an intensely physical experience. Repeated patterns become increasingly powerful as the performance develops, while the interaction between percussion, bass and guitar creates a dense and immersive wall of sound. For audiences searching for experimental music with the energy of a rock concert and the momentum of a club set, a MAQUINA show offers a compelling meeting point between repetition, volume and movement.
