Mark Watson was born in Bristol in 1980. He attended Henleaze Primary School, Bristol Grammar, and finally Queen’s College Cambridge, where he read English and gained a First. It was at university that he began to write and perform in comedy sketches, which lead to him spending two years with the renowned Cambridge Footlights Theatre.

Mark made his comedy debut in the Cambridge Footlights and by 2002, due to his successful performances on the comedy circuit, he had won the Daily Telegraph Open Mic competition, and that same year was a runner-up in So You Think You’re Funny?. This was to be instrumental in his success, getting the ball rolling for Mark Watson tickets to become sought-after items.

His 2005 Edinburgh Fringe show was a huge success and his “50 Years Before Death and The Awful P” tickets were in great demand. The show’s content had a uniquely unusual angle in that he lived out the rest of his life in the course of the 50 minute show, which had the audience in stitches. In 2007 he starred in his first radio series, Mark Watson Makes the World Substantially Better. He has already added two dates in Norwich to his schedule, and on his blog he invites fans to nominate ‘request stops’, adding that he’s open to all suggestions … even “a prison or a secure unit”.
