Michael Messer is a British guitarist, singer and songwriter widely associated with blues and slide guitar, with a career built around a deep appreciation for roots music and a distinctive approach to the resonator guitar. Over decades of performing and recording, Messer has explored the connections between traditional blues and contemporary musical ideas, establishing a reputation as a skilled and expressive player within the British blues scene.

His music draws strongly from blues traditions while demonstrating how the genre can continue to evolve. Messer is particularly known for his slide guitar playing, using resonator instruments to create a sound that can move from intimate and reflective passages to rhythmic, driving performances. His recordings and collaborations have allowed him to explore different sides of blues, roots and world influenced music while retaining the guitar sound at the heart of his work.

Live, Michael Messer places musicianship and the character of the songs at the centre of the experience. The expressive qualities of slide guitar become especially immediate in concert, giving audiences the opportunity to hear the detail, rhythm and emotion behind his playing. His performances appeal to dedicated blues listeners as well as guitar enthusiasts interested in experiencing an accomplished musician at close range.
