MICKO AND THE MELLOTRONICS are a British alternative rock band led by musician, actor and artist Micko Westmoreland. Combining sharp songwriting with art rock, post punk and alternative influences, the group have developed a colourful identity built around inventive arrangements and an unmistakably British sense of character. Westmoreland's varied creative background feeds into a project where music, performance and personality meet.
The band's material combines angular guitars, melodic hooks and energetic rhythms with lyrics delivered with wit and individuality. Their music reflects a broad range of influences without simply recreating the past, connecting elements of punk and alternative rock with their own contemporary perspective. MICKO AND THE MELLOTRONICS consequently offer plenty for listeners who appreciate eccentric, intelligent and guitar driven independent music.
Live, MICKO AND THE MELLOTRONICS bring the character of their recordings into a more immediate and energetic setting. Their songs are well suited to intimate venues, where guitars, rhythms and Westmoreland's distinctive performance style can connect directly with the crowd. For fans of alternative rock, post punk and musicians who approach performance with imagination, a MICKO AND THE MELLOTRONICS concert promises an engaging night of independent British music.
