Robert Lester Folsom is an American singer, songwriter and musician whose recordings have gained renewed attention among fans of independent music, soft rock and overlooked songwriting from the 1970s. Originally from Georgia, Folsom created deeply personal music characterised by warm melodies, intimate vocals and understated arrangements. Although his work initially circulated on a limited scale, later rediscovery introduced his distinctive songwriting to a much wider audience.
His best known release, "Music and Dreams", has become particularly valued by collectors and listeners interested in privately released American music. Recorded during the 1970s, the album combines elements of folk, soft rock and melodic pop with a homemade intimacy that gives the songs their enduring character. Its rediscovery helped establish Folsom as a cult figure whose music found a second life decades after it was originally created.
Seeing Robert Lester Folsom live offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience songs whose reputation has grown through rediscovery and word of mouth. In a concert environment, the warmth and simplicity of his songwriting can come into sharper focus, allowing the melodies and personal character of the material to lead the performance.
