Having sold in excess of 90 million records worldwide, performed to over 100 million people globally and having ten Grammy Awards under his belt - including a record-tying nine for a single project, 1999’s Supernatural - Santana are now into their fourth decade of recording and performing their own fusion of rock, jazz, Latin and blues.
Among many other honours, Carlos Santana has received Billboard Latin Music Awards’ 2009 Lifetime Achievement honour, and has been cited by Rolling Stone as number 20 on the magazine’s list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time”. With the release of 2010’s Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time, Santana joined the Rolling Stones as one of only two music acts in Billboard history to score at least one top ten album in each decade from the 1960s on.
Santana’s last album, Shape Shifter was the first for his new label, Starfaith Records and debuted at number 16 on the Billboard charts. The 13-song set is an instrumental tour de force long awaited by fans (only one song features vocals, by Santana’s lead vocalists Andy Vargas and Tony Lindsay).
What else can I say but excellent - when back over in England will be there. Fans where made a part of the show. Excellent, music excellent. A must if you can get to see them.
Amazing night!

Having ached to see Santana since my teens in the 1970s, this was definitely on my bucket list! I was not disappointed! With numbers from Abraxas, Supernatural and some amazingly tasty covers done in his individual style it was hard to just sit and enjoy the vibe - had to dance! His music is adaptable and timeless. Hard hitting vocals, driving percussion and sublime solos from Carlos proved that he is still vital and current. Happy Birthday for next month Carlos!
Red hot!
