Shonen Knife are a Japanese rock band from Osaka, celebrated for their joyful combination of punk rock, pop melodies and energetic guitar music. Formed in 1981 by sisters Naoko Yamano and Atsuko Yamano alongside Michie Nakatani, the group developed a distinctive style inspired by punk, garage rock and classic pop. Their colourful songs, catchy melodies and playful approach helped Shonen Knife build an international following and become one of the best known Japanese alternative rock bands.

Over their long career, Shonen Knife have released an extensive catalogue while earning admiration from musicians and alternative music audiences around the world. Albums including Burning Farm, Pretty Little Baka Guy, 712 and Let's Knife helped introduce their infectious sound to listeners beyond Japan. Their connection with the international alternative scene grew further during the 1990s, when they toured with Nirvana and gained recognition among fans of punk, indie rock and grunge.

Live, Shonen Knife bring decades of experience together with the enthusiasm and upbeat energy that have always defined their music. Fast guitars, bright harmonies and irresistible pop hooks create concerts that feel fun, direct and refreshingly uncomplicated. From longtime favourites to newer material, their songs translate naturally to the stage, making a Shonen Knife concert an appealing night out for fans of punk, indie pop and energetic alternative rock.
