Shortwave bring together contemporary musical influences with an independent approach to songwriting and performance. Built around atmosphere, melody and the energy of musicians playing together, their sound offers an appealing entry point for listeners interested in discovering emerging music and artists developing an identity outside the boundaries of mainstream pop.
The name Shortwave evokes communication, transmission and distant signals, qualities that suit music capable of creating its own atmosphere and sense of discovery. Through a combination of instrumental detail, rhythm and songwriting, Shortwave can move between intimate moments and more expansive passages, giving their material a dynamic quality suited to repeated listening.
Live, Shortwave have the opportunity to amplify those contrasts, with quieter details becoming more intimate and energetic sections gaining the physical impact of a full performance. The interaction between musicians and audience gives every concert its own character. For listeners looking for independent music and the excitement of discovering artists in a live setting, a Shortwave concert offers an experience worth tuning into.
