Shy Child are a band with two young men who are definitely not shy. Pete Cafarella (vocals, synthesizer, keytar) and his college friend Nate Smith (drums), formed the band in New York City in 2000, when they both found themselves living there. Both loved the sound of electronic rock, and decided to create a progressive fusion sound with their music. They recorded their debut album, Please Consider Our Time, just a year later. Picked up by Grenadine Records it obtained much wider distribution via the label than through the self promotion that Shy Child were formerly attempting.
By 2006, Shy Child were playing in several venues in the UK and tickets were selling at a brisk rate. They were quickly signed by UK label, Wall of Sound, and played at even more locations in the UK following the signing. A US tour followed, with Shy Child fronting for Hot Chip.
2007 and early 2008 were incredibly busy for Shy Child, with performance venues including Barcelona’s Accio Musical, to London’s O2 Wireless Festival, to Wembley Stadium, being among the places at which they played. Shy Child tickets sold briskly as soon as word of their performance dates got out. Shy Child tour tickets included a performance at the Sydney Opera House, fronting for Bjork.
