Simply Red are one of Britain's most successful soul and pop bands, combining sophisticated songwriting with elements of soul, funk, jazz and contemporary pop. Formed in Manchester in 1985 and led by vocalist Mick Hucknall, the group quickly established an international audience through Hucknall's instantly recognisable voice and a catalogue filled with polished melodies. Decades later, Simply Red remain a major live attraction with songs that have become enduring favourites around the world.
The band's extensive catalogue includes classics such as "Holding Back the Years", "If You Don't Know Me by Now", "Stars", "Something Got Me Started" and "Fairground". Their 1991 album Stars became one of the defining British albums of the decade, while a succession of successful releases helped establish Simply Red as a consistent presence in UK popular music. Their recordings combine romantic songwriting with soulful arrangements and Hucknall's distinctive vocal delivery.
Simply Red concerts bring this catalogue to life with accomplished musicianship, rich arrangements and a set filled with recognisable songs.
