The Pigeon Detectives are an English indie rock band from Rothwell, near Leeds, renowned for their infectious energy, hook-filled anthems, and electrifying live performances. Emerging during the mid-2000s indie rock boom, they quickly became one of the UK’s most exciting live acts, blending raw energy with undeniable pop sensibility.

Formed in 2004, the band – fronted by the charismatic Matt Bowman alongside Oliver Main, Ryan Wilson, Dave Best, and Jimmi Naylor – rose to prominence with the release of their debut album Wait for Me (2007). Propelled by hit singles such as I'm Not Sorry, Take Her Back, and Romantic Type, the album soared into the UK Top 5 and established The Pigeon Detectives as festival favourites and a key part of the British indie resurgence.

Their follow-up album, Emergency (2008), continued their success with songs like This Is an Emergency and Say It Like You Mean It, showcasing their knack for writing fast-paced, guitar-driven anthems. The band maintained their momentum with releases including Up, Guards and at ’Em!
