The Vaccines are an English indie rock band formed in West London in 2010 by Justin Hayward-Young and Freddie Cowan. The current lineup includes Young (lead vocals, guitars), Árni Árnason (bass, vocals), Timothy Lanham (guitars, keys, vocals), and Yoann Intonti (drums). Known for their energetic performances, they have toured extensively, sharing stages with major acts like the Rolling Stones, Arcade Fire, and the Arctic Monkeys.

Their debut album, What Did You Expect from the Vaccines?, was the best-selling debut in the UK in 2011 and drew comparisons to the Ramones and the Strokes. They have released six studio albums: What Did You Expect from the Vaccines? (2011), Come of Age (2012), English Graffiti (2015), Combat Sports (2018), Back in Love City (2021), and Pick-Up Full of Pink Carnations (2024), selling two million records worldwide.

The band's journey began with their 2010 demo "If You Wanna," which gained immediate acclaim. They quickly rose to prominence, receiving a 4/5 rating from The Guardian for their live performances and appearing on Later with Jools Holland before releasing a single. Their 2011 debut album saw positive reviews and a high charting single, "Post Break-Up Sex."

Despite setbacks, such as Young's vocal issues requiring multiple surgeries in 2011, the band maintained a rigorous touring schedule. Their second album, Come of Age, released in 2012, reached No. 1 in the UK and was certified gold. The band continued to evolve with subsequent albums, exploring different musical styles and expanding their lineup, including the addition of Lanham and Intonti.

The Vaccines' fourth album, Combat Sports, marked a shift towards polished '70s and '80s rock influences. Their fifth album, Back in Love City, released in 2021, continued their trend of top-five UK chart debuts. In 2023, Cowan left the band, and Lanham took over lead guitar duties, with Matt Hitt joining as a live keyboardist and guitarist. The band's sixth album, Pick-Up Full of Pink Carnations, was released in January 2024, accompanied by extensive touring in the UK, Europe, and the US.
