The Very Things are a British alternative band associated with the inventive post punk and independent music scene of the 1980s. Emerging from the Midlands and featuring musicians with roots in earlier underground projects, the group developed an eccentric sound combining post punk, garage rock, psychedelia and experimental pop. Their unconventional approach, theatrical personality and distinctive visual identity helped The Very Things stand apart from many of their contemporaries.
The band became known for releases including The Bushes Scream While My Daddy Prunes and songs such as "The Bushes Scream While My Daddy Prunes" and "Motorcycle Girl". Their recordings combine sharp rhythms, unusual arrangements and a playful approach to songwriting, capturing the adventurous spirit of British independent music during the period. The Very Things remain a cult favourite among listeners attracted to the stranger and more imaginative corners of alternative rock.
Live, The Very Things bring their eccentric catalogue to the stage with the energy and character that made them such a distinctive underground act. Their performances offer longtime followers an opportunity to reconnect with their music while introducing newer audiences to a band whose work refuses to fit comfortably within conventional genre boundaries. For fans of post punk, alternative rock and cult British music, The Very Things provide an entertaining journey into the independent underground.
