Turin Brakes are an English indie-folk band formed in 1999 by childhood friends Olly Knights and Gale Paridjanian, later joined by long-term collaborators Rob Allum and Eddie Myer. They earned early acclaim with their Mercury Prize-nominated debut The Optimist LP (2001), which featured singles like “Underdog (Save Me)” and quickly went gold in the UK. Their follow-up album Ether Song (2003) showcased a darker, more electric sound and delivered their biggest hit, “Painkiller (Summer Rain),” reaching the UK Top 5.
Over more than two decades, Turin Brakes have released a rich and evolving discography including JackInABox (2005), Dark on Fire (2007), Outbursts (2010), We Were Here (2013), Wide-Eyed Nowhere (2022), and most recently their tenth studio album Spacehopper, released in May 2025. Known for their heartfelt songwriting and melodic harmonies, they’ve sold over a million records worldwide and earned a reputation for compelling live performances.
In autumn and next winter 2025, the band is touring the UK & Ireland in support of Spacehopper, bringing their warm acoustic energy and thoughtful lyricism to venues from Belfast to London, as well as Glasgow and beyond.
