Twin Atlantic, a Scottish alternative rock band hailing from Glasgow, was formed in 2006. The current lineup consists of Sam McTrusty (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) and Ross McNae (bass). Barry McKenna, the lead guitarist, left the band in 2019 but still participates in their live performances. Drummer Craig Kneale decided to step back from the band in September 2021, just a day after the release of their song "One Man Party" from their latest album, Transparency.
The band has a notable discography, including six albums: Vivarium, Free, Great Divide, GLA, Power, and Transparency. Their highest-charting single is "Heart and Soul" from the album Great Divide, which reached number 17 on the UK Singles Chart.
Twin Atlantic's journey began in 2006, with all members having previously played in other local bands. They gained recognition in 2007, supporting acts like Circa Survive and mewithoutYou. The debut EP, A Guidance from Colour, was recorded in 2007, and their first single, "Audience & Audio," was released in December 2007.
The band's career continued to thrive with the release of Vivarium in March 2009. They toured extensively, playing major festivals and supporting acts like Taking Back Sunday and Blink-182. The subsequent albums Free (2011–2013) and Great Divide (2014–2015) further solidified their presence in the alternative rock scene.
In 2016, Twin Atlantic released GLA, their fourth studio album, featuring tracks like "No Sleep" and "The Chaser." They continued touring and received accolades, including being named 'Best UK Band' at the 2016 SSE Scottish Music Awards.
The band's fifth studio album, Power, was announced in 2020, with the lead single, "Novocaine." In September 2021, drummer Craig Kneale announced his departure, and the band revealed their sixth album, Transparency, which was released on January 7, 2022.
