Vera Sola, born Danielle Aykroyd on November 18, 1989, in Los Angeles, California, is an American-Canadian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and recording artist. Despite being the daughter of renowned actor Dan Aykroyd and actress Donna Dixon, Vera Sola deliberately distanced herself from her recognizable name to establish an independent music career.
After graduating from Harvard with a degree in literature, Sola initially worked on the radio and as a voice actor, providing commercial voice-overs and narration for television and film. In February 2017, encouraged by songwriter Elvis Perkins, a longtime friend, she decided to pursue a solo music career. Sola toured and recorded with Perkins and credits him for bringing her on stage.
Sola's debut album, "Shades," was self-released on November 9, 2018. She performed, arranged, and produced the entire album independently, showcasing her proficiency with unconventional instruments like bones, chains, and breaking glass. The album received critical acclaim, with reviewers praising her virtuosity and describing the work as an "absolute masterpiece."
In October 2017, Sola gained attention with an EP of Misfits covers titled "Last Caress." The first single from "Shades" was released in August 2018, and the album followed in November.
