Arriving by rail, we recommend getting a taxi from the station. The cabbies are very friendly unless you remind them that under an ancient local bylaw it is still legal to relieve yourself against their rear offside wheel - as long as they have a bale of hay in the boot. Anyways, the fare should be about £4 and that's far better than missing the show whilst you get lost wandering around our little streets.

In a car, street parking is very limited although nearby you could try Fossgate/Walmgate which is accessed from The Stonebow (the street we're on) in between a pub called The Terrace and an Army & Navy Stores.
