For the best part of the last decade, Scottish musician Liam Shortall, aka corto.alto, has been redefining jazz for a new generation.

Cooking up frenetic improvisations, diligently wonky productions and genre-spanning compositions with close collaborations, corto.alto’s irrepressible sound earned him a Mercury Music Prize nomination for his debut album Bad With Names, the AIM Award for Breakthrough Artist in 2025, and Jazz FM’s UK Jazz Act Of The Year and The Innovation Award.

Now signed to tastemaker label Ninja Tune, the band has played over 200 shows across the world in the last 3 years, building a solid reputation for being one of the best live bands around.

We’re taking corto.alto to Electric Brixton as he returns with his third album, SOME SMALL FORTUNE, his most expansive and unpredictably exciting work to date.
