Alien Boy are a Portland, Oregon based band whose music combines shoegaze, dream pop and alternative rock with emotionally direct songwriting. Led by guitarist and vocalist Sonia Weber, the project has developed a distinctive sound built around shimmering guitar textures, melodic hooks and the contrast between dreamy atmosphere and the heavier impact of loud guitar music.
Named after an Elliott Smith song, Alien Boy reflect the rich history of Pacific Northwest independent music while developing an identity firmly rooted in contemporary alternative rock. Releases including Sleeping Lessons and Don't Know What I Am showcase their ability to balance hazy guitar layers with memorable melodies and personal songwriting. Their music moves between introspection and distortion without losing its strong pop instincts.
Live, Alien Boy turn their atmospheric recordings into a louder and more immediate experience. Layered guitars can fill the room while melodic vocals provide an emotional centre, creating the combination of beauty and volume that makes shoegaze inspired music particularly powerful in concert. For fans of dream pop, indie rock and guitar music that balances vulnerability with distortion, an Alien Boy show offers plenty to get lost in.
