J. Zunz is the solo project of Mexican musician Lorena Quintanilla, also known for her work as part of the Guadalajara based duo Lorelle Meets The Obsolete. Through J. Zunz, Quintanilla explores experimental electronic music, minimalism, repetition and atmospheric sound, creating compositions that can feel mysterious, hypnotic and deeply immersive. The project demonstrates a distinctive approach to contemporary experimental music shaped by texture and sonic exploration.
J. Zunz moves between electronic rhythms, synthesised textures, abstract structures and carefully controlled moments of tension. Releases including Hibiscus have demonstrated Quintanilla's ability to create music that feels both sparse and intense, allowing individual sounds and repeating patterns to gradually transform. Her work draws listeners into a musical environment where atmosphere is as important as conventional melody.
Live, J. Zunz offers an absorbing experience where electronic sound, repetition and atmosphere can become particularly powerful. The music rewards close attention, with subtle changes and rhythmic patterns developing throughout the performance. For fans of experimental electronica, minimal music and adventurous independent artists, seeing J. Zunz in concert provides an opportunity to experience Lorena Quintanilla's singular creative vision in an immediate live setting.
