J.Zunz is the solo project of Mexican musician Lorena Quintanilla, also known for her work as part of the Guadalajara duo Lorelle Meets The Obsolete. Through J.Zunz, Quintanilla explores a hypnotic world of experimental electronics, post punk, psychedelia and atmospheric sound. The project allows her to push beyond conventional song structures, creating music where repetition, tension and texture are as important as melody.
Releases including Hibiscus and Del Aire demonstrate the project's distinctive approach, bringing together synthesizers, rhythmic experimentation, guitar textures and evocative vocals. J.Zunz creates music that can feel minimal and expansive at the same time, using carefully placed sounds to build an atmosphere that is mysterious, immersive and emotionally charged. Quintanilla's background in psychedelic and experimental music remains present, but her solo work establishes a world with its own identity.
Live, J.Zunz transforms these experimental compositions into an absorbing performance where repetition, electronics and atmosphere create a powerful sense of momentum. The music encourages audiences to focus on gradual changes in rhythm and texture, making the concert experience both physical and introspective. For fans of experimental music, post punk and adventurous electronic sounds, J.Zunz offers a distinctive live experience that rewards curiosity and close listening.
