Overhead are a Finnish progressive rock band known for combining melodic songwriting with ambitious arrangements and atmospheric musicianship. Formed in Helsinki, the group have developed a distinctive place within the European progressive rock scene through music that moves between delicate, reflective passages and powerful rock sections. Their sound brings together progressive rock traditions with modern production and an emphasis on melody, creating expansive songs that reward attentive listening.
Across their recorded work, Overhead have explored lengthy compositions, conceptual ideas and carefully developed musical themes while maintaining an accessible emotional core. Albums including Metaepitome, And We're Not Here After All and Of Sun and Moon demonstrate the band's interest in creating complete musical journeys rather than simply collections of individual tracks. Their combination of guitars, keyboards, flute, rhythm and expressive vocals gives their music a broad sonic palette and a recognisable progressive character.
In concert, Overhead can bring the scale and detail of their studio recordings into a more immediate environment. Extended compositions provide space for instrumental interplay and changing dynamics, while quieter moments create contrast with the band's heavier passages. For fans of progressive rock, atmospheric music and musicianship built around ambitious songwriting, an Overhead concert offers the opportunity to experience their expansive sound with the added intensity and connection of a live performance.
