The Polecats are a British rockabilly band who emerged from the vibrant UK rock and roll revival of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Formed in North London, the group became known for combining the rebellious spirit of classic 1950s rockabilly with the speed, attitude and energy of a new generation. Their sharp style, infectious rhythms and enthusiastic approach helped establish The Polecats as one of the most recognisable names from the British rockabilly revival.
The band achieved UK chart success with songs including "Rockabilly Guy" and their distinctive version of David Bowie's "John, I'm Only Dancing". Their music combines driving guitar, upright bass, energetic vocals and traditional rock and roll influences, creating a sound that celebrates rockabilly heritage while maintaining its own personality. Over the years, The Polecats have remained closely associated with the international rockabilly and rock and roll scene.
Live, The Polecats bring their fast paced sound and decades of performance experience directly to the stage. Their concerts combine rockabilly favourites, energetic rhythms and the unmistakable atmosphere of vintage rock and roll, making them an appealing choice for longtime followers and audiences discovering the genre for the first time. For fans of rockabilly, rock and roll and high energy live music, seeing The Polecats in concert offers the chance to experience an enduring part of the British rockabilly story.
