TAPE FACE: 20 celebrates the distinctive silent comedy of Tape Face, the stage character created by New Zealand performer Sam Wills. Recognisable by the strip of black tape placed across his mouth, Tape Face has developed an international following through a combination of mime, physical comedy, visual jokes and imaginative audience interaction. Without relying on conventional spoken stand up, Wills turns everyday objects, familiar songs and simple gestures into inventive comedy that can communicate with audiences across language barriers.
Sam Wills developed his skills through years of live performance before Tape Face reached a huge international audience through America's Got Talent in 2016. His memorable performances introduced millions of viewers to a style combining silent comedy, clowning and visual theatre. Since then, Tape Face has performed internationally, building a reputation for shows where seemingly ordinary props can become the starting point for unexpected and carefully constructed comic routines.
TAPE FACE: 20 brings that visual comedy into a live environment where audience participation and unpredictability become essential parts of the experience. With no need for lengthy explanations, each routine relies on timing, expression and creative ideas to generate laughs. For comedy fans looking for something different from traditional stand up, and for audiences who enjoy inventive theatrical entertainment, TAPE FACE: 20 offers an unusual live show where silence can be considerably funnier than words.
