While these days he is best known for his extremely passionate solo performances, this artist first rose to popularity when he was the lead singer for the independent rock group Easyworld. While singing for Easyworld, he released an independent mini album called …Better Ways to Self Destruct as well as two full-length albums with the band through Jive Records, This is Where I Stand and Kill the Last Romantic before their breakup in 2004.

After the breakup, he launched into a series of intimate solo performances, and debuted some of the songs he had begun to write for his solo career. With 2005 behind him he began his first solo tour as a headline act. The single State of the Union was released in September of 2005 as his debut single, and a self-recorded debut album was just round the corner, aptly titled I Sincerely Apologize for All the Trouble I've Caused. He then went on to support Starsailor for their 2005 tour, followed by his own sellout tour in February of 2006 when he released his second single, I Don't Care What You Call Me. David Ford tickets then went on sale for shows in Ireland and the United States, and he landed supporting slots with KT Tunstall, Richard Ashcroft and Elvis Costello. His self-titled debut album was released in May of 2006 in the United States through Columbia Records.

Following an extensive tour supporting Suzanne Vega in the UK, he released his second solo album in August 2007, called Songs for the Road. An extensive David Ford tour throughout the UK followed in October, and then the United States in 2008. His most recent album, Let the Hard Times Roll, was released in February of 2010. Ford is known for his independent release style, with most of his albums being available directly through his website as well as through iTunes and other digital formats rather than through traditional vendors.
