Adam Offord Buxton, born on June 7, 1969, is an accomplished English actor, comedian, podcaster, and writer. Best known as one half of the comedy duo Adam and Joe, alongside filmmaker Joe Cornish, Buxton has made significant contributions to both television and radio.
Born in Shepherd's Bush, London, Buxton spent part of his childhood in Wales. His father, Nigel Buxton, was a travel writer and wine critic, known as "Baaad Dad" on The Adam and Joe Show, while his mother, Valerie, was Chilean. Buxton attended Windlesham House School, Westminster School, and the University of Warwick before studying sculpture at Cheltenham College of Art.
Buxton and Cornish gained prominence with The Adam and Joe Show, which aired on Channel 4 from 1996 to 2001, and the BBC Radio 6 Music series Adam and Joe (2007–2009, 2011). The duo also co-wrote The Adam and Joe Book in 1999.
In addition to his collaborative work, Buxton has an extensive solo career. He co-wrote and acted in The Last Chancers in 2004 and performed character-driven comedy at the 2005 Edinburgh Festival with the show "I, Pavel." His television appearances include roles in Time Trumpet (BBC Two), Hot Fuzz (2007), Stardust, Rush Hour (BBC Three), and Son of Rambow (2007).
Buxton has collaborated with the band Radiohead on multiple projects, including directing music videos and creating video vignettes. He has also appeared on panel shows like Would I Lie To You?, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
Since 2015, Buxton has been hosting The Adam Buxton Podcast, featuring interviews with comedians, authors, musicians, and celebrities. The podcast has received acclaim and awards, including Best Online Comedy Talk Show at the Online Radio Awards and Podcast Champion at the British Podcast Awards.
In addition to his entertainment career, Buxton has ventured into voice acting, releasing the audiobook version of his autobiography, "Ramble Book," in April 2020. He continues to make cameo appearances in various shows and projects, showcasing his versatility in the entertainment industry.
