Boy & Bear is an Australian indie folk-rock band that formed in 2009. The group was initially conceived as a solo project by lead vocalist and guitarist Dave Hosking but later expanded to include Jon Hart (vocals, guitar, mandolin), Killian Gavin (vocals, guitar, banjo), Tim Hart (drums, vocals), and David Symes (bass).
The band gained attention with their debut single, "Mexican Mavis," which received significant airplay on Australian radio stations. In 2010, they released their first EP, "With Emperor Antarctica," followed by their debut album, "Moonfire," in 2011. "Moonfire" quickly became a commercial success in Australia, topping the charts and earning the band multiple ARIA Awards, including Album of the Year.
