Bryan Guy Adams (born November 5, 1959) is a Canadian singer-songwriter, musician, record producer, and photographer. He has sold between 75 million and over 100 million records and singles worldwide, placing him among the best-selling music artists. Adams was the most played artist on Canadian radio in the 2010s and has had numerous top-15 singles in Canada, the US, the UK, and Australia.
Adams released his debut album at age 20 and gained fame with his 1983 album Cuts Like a Knife, featuring the hit "Straight From the Heart." His 1984 album Reckless made him a global star with hits like "Run to You," "Summer of '69," and the US number one "Heaven." Reckless became the first Canadian album to be certified diamond in Canada. His 1987 album Into the Fire included the top ten song "Heat of the Night."
In 1991, Adams released "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You," which topped the charts in at least 19 countries, including a 16-week run at number one in the UK. The song was part of the album Waking Up the Neighbours, a worldwide success that sold 16 million copies. Subsequent hits included "Please Forgive Me," "All for Love," and "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?," with the latter two topping the US Billboard Hot 100.
Adams' 1993 greatest hits album So Far So Good sold 13 million copies worldwide. His 1996 album 18 til I Die was a top-five hit globally. He collaborated with Barbra Streisand and Melanie C on successful duets in the late 1990s. Adams continued to release albums into the 2000s, with three reaching number one in Canada and high positions in the UK and Germany.
Adams ranks 48th on the Billboard Hot 100 all-time top artists list. He has won 20 Juno Awards and a Grammy Award among 16 nominations, and received nominations for five Golden Globes and three Academy Awards. He has been inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Canada's Walk of Fame, the Canadian Broadcast Hall of Fame, the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, and the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2010, he received the Governor General's Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement.
Adams' recent works include a contribution to the BBC Radio 2's Allstars' Children in Need charity single in 2020, which reached number one on the UK Singles Sales Chart. He released his 15th studio album So Happy It Hurts in 2022, followed by a worldwide tour. He also released new versions of Pretty Woman: The Musical songs and reworked hits in the albums Classic and Classic Pt II in 2022.
In December 2023, Adams split with his long-time manager Bruce Allen to self-manage his career.
