Shiflett has played a crucial role in shaping the sound and scope of modern-day rock music as a longtime member of the Foo Fighters. He's also an alum of California-based punk rock bands No Use For a Name and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. Shiflett’s latest releases refocus his attention on a mix of country twang and rock & roll bang.
“Sometimes you have those magic songwriting moments when your pen can barely keep up with the words and it all spills out really quickly. Somehow they always just sing and play better, looser, freer.” In this case, Shiflett is waxing about his brand-new single, “Overboard,” an overdriven, mid-tempo strummer from his upcoming album 'Lost at Sea' (Produced by Jaren Johnston.) “It’s a middle-aged love song,” says Shiflett. Nodding to the final verse of “Overboard” - “No little voices down the hall / Distracting us at all, oh no” - he jokes, “All the parents out there will understand.” Lost at Sea will be released on October 20.
