fish narc, aka Ben Friars-Funkhouser, began when his band broke up in 2013. After learning music software, he joined alt-rap collective Gothboiclique and began to integrate guitar playing and rock songwriting into beat making and production. As a pioneer of the emo rap genre, fish has produced songs for JuiceWRLD, Wicca Phase Springs Eternal, and Lil Peep, including his final project: Goth Angel Sinner. Since 2019, fish has returned to writing and touring his own songs, influenced by rap, punk and indie. He released the albums WiLDFiRE in 2020, Camouflage in 2022 and fruiting body, which dropped in June 2023.
Gothboiclique’s fish narc is embarking on his first solo tour of Europe and the UK. As a founding producer ofthe soundcloud movement of the late 2010s, fish narc brought his experience playing in DIY punk and indie bands to beatmaking. Now he’s come full circle, performing his own music with a full band. With a new record out Olympia, WA’s K records (The Microphones, Modest Mouse), fish narc’s work unites underground music cultures into an explosive live show.
