Kedarnath Bhattacharya, known professionally as Kumar Sanu, is an acclaimed Indian playback singer celebrated for his contributions to Hindi film songs. Born on October 20, 1957, he boasts a versatile repertoire, singing not only in Hindi but also in a multitude of other languages such as Bengali, Marathi, Nepali, and many more. Sanu holds the remarkable distinction of winning five consecutive Filmfare Awards for Best Male Playback Singer from 1991 to 1995, a feat that remains unmatched. Additionally, he holds a Guinness World Record since 1993 for recording the highest number of songs in a single day.

Recognized for his outstanding achievements, Sanu was honored with the Padma Shri in 2009 by the Government of India. His influence extends beyond borders, with many of his tracks featuring prominently in BBC's "Top 40 Bollywood Soundtracks of all time."

Born into a musical family, Sanu's journey began in Vikrampur near Dhaka (now in Bangladesh), where his father, Pashupati Bhattacharya, was a renowned vocalist and composer. Despite humble beginnings, Sanu's talent shone brightly, leading him to the bustling music scene of Calcutta (now Kolkata). There, he embarked on his playback career under the name Sanu Bhattacharya, eventually adopting the moniker "Kumar Sanu" in homage to his idol, Kishore Kumar.

Sanu's breakthrough came with the 1990 film "Aashiqui," where he mesmerized audiences with his soulful renditions. His collaborations with esteemed music directors like Nadeem-Shravan, Anu Malik, and Jatin-Lalit yielded numerous chart-topping hits, solidifying his status as a playback singing legend. Notable movies featuring his iconic vocals include "Baazigar," "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge," and "Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai."

Apart from his illustrious playback singing career, Sanu has ventured into music composition and film production. He remains actively involved in various charitable endeavors, including his role as a trustee and Brand Ambassador of Bishwa Bandhan, a foundation for cerebral palsy.

Sanu's legacy continues to thrive as he collaborates with both seasoned and emerging artists, showcasing his timeless appeal and unwavering dedication to music.

Worst Experience Ever Had In Live Show

We were waiting for this show long time ago having a thought that once again we will have 90's memory back by a great legendary performance. Was surprised with the opening of show by some another singer artist. We were there for Kumar Sanu not some body else. Almost 20-25 mins were wasted in the beginning untill the real Artist arrived & he hardly sung any single full song. It was clearly visible that he cannot perform any more with same energy as before. Disappointing concert

Was so eager to hear Kumar Sanu, however his performance time was very less...wasted a lot of time talking, with fillers and other promotional things. singing only 1 line of the songs and also not doing justice to the concert. After second half, I was expecting things to be better but it was a wrap after just 2-3 songs that took not sung by him, he was trying to engage the audience and making them sing and wasting time. All in all felt like he was passing time on stage so he doesn't have to sing...

Very disappointed

To much time wasted on sponsors, I didn’t pay for sponsors and also disappointed for Kumar Sanu not singing full songs. After the concert many people were disappointed as well.
