Liam Gallagher (born 21 September 1972) is an English singer and songwriter, best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band Oasis and later Beady Eye. Since 2017, he has enjoyed a successful solo career.
Born in Burnage, Manchester, Gallagher had a troubled childhood and left school at 16. He formed Oasis with his brother Noel in 1991, which became one of the most popular bands of the 1990s.
Oasis released their debut album Definitely Maybe in 1994, followed by the hugely successful (What's the Story) Morning Glory? in 1995. The band became known for their rivalry with Blur and iconic performances at Knebworth in 1996. Oasis disbanded in 2009 after a falling out between the Gallagher brothers.
After Oasis, Gallagher formed Beady Eye, releasing two albums before disbanding in 2014. He launched his solo career in 2017 with the album As You Were, followed by Why Me? Why Not. in 2019. Both albums received critical acclaim and commercial success.
Gallagher released the Acoustic Sessions EP in January 2020 and a live album, MTV Unplugged (Live at Hull City Hall), in June 2020, which debuted at number one on the UK charts. In November 2020, he released the charity single "All You're Dreaming Of", which became the UK's highest-selling vinyl single of the year. Gallagher announced his third solo album, C'mon You Know, set for release on 27 May 2022, preceded by the singles "Everything's Electric" and "Better Days".
He performed at Knebworth Park in June 2022, marking nearly 26 years since Oasis's legendary performances there. Gallagher released his live album Down By The River Thames on the same day as C'mon You Know. The album debuted at number one on the UK charts.
In October 2022, he released the single "Too Good For Giving Up" in partnership with Talk Club UK to support mental health. He announced a tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Definitely Maybe in June 2024 and a headline performance at TRNSMT in July 2024.
In 2024, Gallagher collaborated with former Stone Roses guitarist John Squire on the album Liam Gallagher & John Squire, released on 1 March 2024, featuring singles "Just Another Rainbow" and "Mars to Liverpool". They announced a tour beginning in January 2024.
Known for his distinctive voice, brash personality, and onstage presence, Gallagher remains a prominent figure in rock music, continuing to captivate audiences worldwide with his solo work and live performances.
