Molchat Doma (Russian: Молчат Дома, pronounced [mɐlˈt͡ɕat dɐˈma], meaning 'Houses Are Silent') is a Belarusian post-punk band from Minsk, formed in 2017. The band consists of Egor Shkutko (vocals), Roman Komogortsev (guitar, synthesizer, drum machine), and Pavel Kozlov (bass guitar, synthesizer). Their music blends post-punk, new wave, synth-pop, and cold wave styles.
The band self-released their debut album S krysh nashikh domov (From The Roofs of Our Houses) in 2017. Their second album, Etazhi (Floors), released in 2018 through the German label Detriti Records, gained international attention, largely via YouTube and Bandcamp. By the end of 2019, Etazhi had attracted millions of listeners online. Despite their growing fame in Europe, Molchat Doma remained less popular in Belarus.
In 2020, Molchat Doma signed with the American label Sacred Bones Records, which reissued their first two albums. They gained further popularity on TikTok, where their song "Sudno (Boris Ryzhy)" became widely used, propelling it to No. 2 on Spotify’s worldwide Viral 50 chart. The band planned a North American tour in 2020, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Their third album, Monument, was released on 13 November 2020 through Sacred Bones Records. In 2022, Molchat Doma became the first Russian-speaking artist to perform at the Coachella festival. They also performed at the Cruel World Festival in 2023 in Pasadena, California, and the Darker Waves Festival in Huntington Beach, California, alongside prominent bands like Tears for Fears, New Order, and The Human League.
