Mr Bongo DJs bring the adventurous musical spirit of the respected Mr Bongo label and record shop to the dance floor. Founded in London in 1989, Mr Bongo has developed an international reputation for discovering, releasing and reissuing music from around the world, with a catalogue spanning Brazilian music, Latin sounds, funk, soul, jazz, hip hop and other groove driven styles.
The Mr Bongo name has become closely associated with musical discovery, particularly through carefully selected reissues that have introduced important recordings to new generations of listeners. Mr Bongo DJ sets draw from that deep knowledge of records, allowing different countries, eras and genres to meet through selections connected by rhythm and an instinct for the dance floor.
Live, Mr Bongo DJs offer much more than a predictable sequence of familiar club tracks. Their sets provide an opportunity to hear rare discoveries alongside established favourites, with selections capable of moving between continents and musical traditions while maintaining a natural groove. For record collectors, adventurous clubbers and anyone interested in global music, a Mr Bongo DJs event offers a night built around discovery and dancing.
