Born from the sun-kissed shores of the Northern Beaches, Ocean Alley found its inception in the camaraderie of six talented musicians with a shared passion for alternative psychedelic rock. Lead by Baden Donegal's soulful vocals and guitar, the band features Angus Goodwin on lead guitar, Lach Galbraith on keyboard and vocals, Mitch Galbraith on guitar, Nic Blom on bass, and Tom O'Brien on drums. Influenced by the sonic tapestries of Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, and Dire Straits, Ocean Alley embarked on their musical voyage in the cozy confines of a backyard shed in 2011.
Ocean Alley's journey to musical prominence began with the release of their debut EP "Yellow Mellow" in September 2013. Garnering attention both locally and online, the band's melodic prowess and captivating performances propelled them to new heights. Subsequent releases, including the EP "In Purple" in August 2015, showcased their evolving sound, blending elements of cruisey psych, rock, and reggae fusion into a harmonious symphony of sound.
With the release of their debut studio album "Lost Tropics", Ocean Alley embarked on an exhilarating international tour, captivating audiences across Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Their infectious singles "Holiday" and "Lemonworld" set the stage for their meteoric rise, earning them critical acclaim and a devoted global following.
Ocean Alley's sophomore album "Chiaroscuro" solidified their position as rising stars in the music industry. Singles like "The Comedown" and "Confidence" dominated the airwaves, propelling the band to the upper echelons of the ARIA Charts and the coveted top spot on the Triple J Hottest 100.
With the release of their third studio album "Lonely Diamond" in June 2020, Ocean Alley continued to captivate audiences with their infectious melodies and introspective lyricism. Now, as they embark on the next chapter of their musical odyssey with the release of "Low Altitude Living", Ocean Alley remains a beacon of creativity and inspiration in the world of alternative rock.
Despite their soaring success, Ocean Alley faced a moment of adversity when band member Lach Galbraith was involved in a shoplifting incident in New Zealand. However, the band's unwavering commitment to honesty and integrity has only strengthened their bond with fans, reaffirming their status as beloved icons of the music industry.
