Riccardo Zanotti, born in 1994, is the face, the voice (as well as the singer-songwriter) of Pinguini Tattici Nucleari, together with his inseparable bandmates Elio Biffi (keyboards), Nicola Buttafuoco (guitar), Matteo Locati (drums), Simone Pagani (bass) and Lorenzo Pasini (guitar).
2019 is the breakthrough year, as the result of a few self-produced records, 2014's “Il re è nudo”, followed in 2015 by “Diamo un calcio all'Aldilà” and two years later by “Gioventù Brucata” (2017), Budapest's Sziget Festival participation and several kilometers on a rented Fiat Ducato van: on April 5 2019, the fourth album “Fuori dall'hype” (as of today four-times Platinum) is released by Sony Music, leading to 70 million total streams in the same year alone. The first spring tour in clubs starts off sold out, the same result is achieved during the summer: the band reaches over sixty thousand total attendees. In the same year they participated in the making of the album “Faber Nostrum” and the Amazon’s comic book best-seller “Pinguini Tattici Nucleari a fumetti” came out. In 2020 the band won third place at the 70th edition of the Sanremo Festival with “RINGO STARR” (as of today certified Triple Platinum), entirely written and composed by Zanotti. The song is contained in “Fuori dall'Hype Ringo Starr,” the album repackage released within hours of the podium. In December of the same year they released the Ep “AHIA!” (as of today certified four-times Platinum), which contains the singles “Pastello Bianco” (as of today five-times Platinum), “Scrivile scemo” (Quadruple Platinum) and “Scooby Doo” (Triple Platinum). The year 2022 begins with the band’s participation at the Sanremo Festival as guests and continues with the completely sold out "Dove Eravamo Rimasti Tour," which recorded over 300,000 attendees, accompanied by the new single “Giovani Wannabe”, (certified Quadruple Platinum and topping the charts for over 15 weeks) and by “Ricordi” (Double Platinum). The band’s success is accompanied by a prestigious collection of Gold, Double, Triple and Quadruple Platinum records, at the top of the charts for over one hundred weeks, with more than one billion streams and a three-hundred-thousand-attendance during the summer tour in 2022. Meazza Stadium of San Siro sells out in less than 12 hours after the pre-sales are opened; Rome's Olimpico Stadium sold out takes just three days. Pinguini Tattici Nucleari won the MTV European Music Awards 2022 as the Best Italian Act. On December 2nd they released their latest studio album “Fake News” (Platinum in four weeks), which will be accompanied by an eleven-date stadium tour during the summer of 2023.
