Söhne Mannheims, which translates as the Sons of Mannheim, formed in 1995. They have developed from an eclectic collective to a band with a genuine cult status over the years, constantly surprising their fans with a huge spectrum of musical styles such as R&B, rock, hiphop and dancehall. They can play in all sorts of venues, from clubs and bars to large arenas.
Söhne Mannheims have released six albums and sold over three million records. In 2000, they released Zion, a hit-filled album which not only engaged audiences musically but lyrically as well. The album resembles a musical journey that also pays tribute to the Mannheim, the band’s home town.
In 2004, their second album, Noiz, was released to widespread critical acclaim. It went straight to number one in Germany, and Söhne Mannheims tickets grew in popularity around the world. They released a double live album in 2005, Power of the Sound, alongside a live DVD version.
In 2006, the compilation Söhne, Mond & Sterne presented solo titles by members of the group, reflecting the creative mix generated by the variety of artistic forces at play within the band. In 2008, Söhne Mannheims vs Xavier Naidoo: Wettsingen in Schwetzingen – MTV Unplugged was filmed, a double concert at the historic Rococo Theatre at Schwetzingen Castle. The subsequent release of the double DVD went straight to the top of the charts.
