The 1975 are a British rock group led by Matthew Healy.
The band began to play music together when they attended the same school in Cheshire and released their debut, self-titled studio album in September 2013, which went straight into the number one spot in the UK charts.
The 1975 released their follow up album, ‘
I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It’ in early 2016, going into the top spot in both the UK and the US. It included the singles
Love Me,
Ugh! and
Somebody Else.
In 2018, The 1975’s third album,
A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships became their third No. 1 album in the UK.
Notes on a Conditional Form (2020) followed suit, and included the singles,
If You're Too Shy (Let Me Know),
People and more. Their most recent release, fifth studio album,
Being Funny in a Foreign Language in 2022 continued the streak and received critical acclaim, becoming their fifth consecutive No. 1 album in the UK.
Awards & Honours:Their 2018 single
Love It If We Made It won the Best Contemporary Song at Ivor Novello Awards in 2019. They have also won three BRITS, two NME Awards & a BBC Music Award, amongst others throughout their career to date.
