The Bluetones are a well-loved English indie rock band formed in Hounslow, Greater London, in 1993. Comprised of Mark Morriss, Adam Devlin, Scott Morriss, and Eds Chesters, the band rose to prominence with their Britpop-era debut Expecting to Fly, which entered the UK album charts at number one and featured hits like Slight Return and Bluetonic. Known for their melodic hooks and lyrical depth, they delivered thirteen Top 40 singles and three Top 10 albums as they defined the sound of 90s indie pop.
After a hiatus beginning in 2011, The Bluetones reunited in 2015 and have remained active, releasing new music and touring consistently. Their latest releases include the 2023 EP A New Dawn featuring highlights like Turning Pages and Dreamers Parade, and the 2024 follow-up Out of the Shadows, which introduced fan favourites such as Echo Chamber and Here Comes the Weekend. These projects balance nostalgic Britpop flair with fresh songwriting and contemporary production, reaffirming the band’s reputation as a creative force still evolving decades into their career.
