Adam McIlwee, born on March 11, 1989, is an American musician hailing from Scranton, Pennsylvania, often recognized by the stage name Wicca Phase Springs Eternal (WPSE). He initially gained prominence as a member of the rock band Tigers Jaw, co-founding it in 2005. The band released several albums before McIlwee departed in 2013 to pursue a solo career.
In addition to his solo work, McIlwee has been actively involved in various collectives such as GothBoiClique, Thraxxhouse, and Misery Club. He played a crucial role in the formation of GothBoiClique in 2012, connecting musicians from different genres like emo, trap, dark wave, black metal, and indie rock. The collective independently released their debut mixtape, "Yeah it's True," in 2016, and McIlwee has continued to collaborate with them.
Under the moniker Wicca Phase Springs Eternal, McIlwee started his solo career while still a member of Tigers Jaw. His solo releases blend elements of hip hop, emo, and witch house. Some notable projects include the EP "Passionate Yet" (2014), the album "Abercrombie & Me" (2015), and "Suffer On" (2019), released through Run for Cover Records.
Apart from his musical endeavors, McIlwee has had a diverse life, growing up in Scranton amid family challenges, including his father's substance abuse issues and the death of his aunt by suicide. His journey reflects a fusion of diverse influences and experiences, contributing to his unique musical style and collaborations within the alternative music scene.
