If you live locally or are arriving at Chester le Street Market Place or the Railway Station you could walk to DCCC.

From:
• Chester le Street Market Place to DCCC is a 15 - 20 minute walk
• Chester le Street Railway Station to DCCC is a 15 - 20 minute walk.

There is a pedestrian route which avoids busy roads:
• From Chester le Street Market Place – pass Park View School to Roman Avenue, use the foot bridge over the A167 then through Riverside Park to DCCC
• From DCCC - through Riverside Park using the footbridge to reach Roman Avenue, then past Park View School to the Market Place / Rail Stations.

There are a limited number of secure cycle racks to park cycles at DCCC.

By Bus

There is an extensive local bus network operating to and from Chester le Street. Routes north / south from Newcastle to several destinations (e.g. Durham, Bishop Auckland), and east / west (e.g. Sunderland, Consett).

The nearest Chester le Street has to a Bus Station is the Market Place where the bus stops have real time information (10 - 15 minute walk to DCCC). However, the Market Place is not the nearest bus stop to DCCC. The closest stops to DCCC are two stops further south of the Market Place – at the Black Horse (for buses in both directions, north and south, a 5 - 10 minute walk to DCCC).

• North and south from Newcastle to Gateshead, Chester le Street, Durham and Bishop Auckland
• East and west from Sunderland, Stanley and Consett.

The Market Place is the focal point for bus travel in Chester le Street (15 – 20 minute walk to DCCC) where the bus stops have real time information. However, the Market Place is not the nearest bus stop to DCCC.

The closest stops to DCCC (for buses to Durham and Bishop Auckland and Newcastle) are further south of the Market Place – at the Black Horse pub which is a 10 – 15 minute walk to DCCC. Buses serving destinations north and south from Chester le Street Market Place and Black Horse:
• Go North East 21 “Angel” service is the fastest, most direct and most frequent service operates between Newcastle, Gateshead and Durham to Chester le Street: Operates every 10 minutes, Monday to Saturday daytime and every 20 minutes on Sundays.
• Go North East X21 “Pronto” service operates between Bishop Auckland, Durham, Chester le Street, and is then express non-stop to Gateshead and Newcastle: Operates every hour, Monday to Saturday, daytime.

Buses serving destinations east and west from Chester le Street Market Place and go directly to DCCC:
• Go North East 78 “Lime” service provides links to Sunderland, Stanley, Consett, Great Lumley, Fence Houses and Chester le Street: Operates every 30 minutes daytime.
• Go North East 71 service between Chester le Street, Great Lumley, Fence Houses, Houghton le Spring and Sunderland: Operates every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday, daytime.

By Rail

Chester-le-Street station is a 15-20 minute walk to DCCC, and is served by three train operating companies. Northern Rail, CrossCountry and First TransPennine all serve Chester-le-Street from Newcastle, Durham and Darlington. Northern Rail services run to and from Thornaby, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Saltburn, sometimes requiring a change at Darlington. CrossCountry serve York, Doncaster, Sheffield, Derby, Birmingham and points beyond, and TransPennine serve York, Leeds, Huddersfield and Manchester.

On busy days, additional stops are made by trains at Chester-le-Street, although National Express East Coast services from London and Edinburgh are unable to call: the nearest stop for NXEC is Durham. A bus service is sometimes provided direct from the station to DCCC.

Chester-le-Street station is run as an independent business by Chester-le-Track Ltd whose staff will be happy to arrange reservations for rail travel to Chester-le-Street or elsewhere. They can be contacted on 0191 387 1387 office hours or on the website www.nationalrail.com where tickets can be booked online and latest timetable information obtained.

There is a shuttle bus service from Durham Railway Station to and from DCCC for larger matches and events.

By Metro

Although there is no Metro outside Tyne and Wear, Metro can provide transport for part of a journey for those who are travelling from Tyne and Wear to DCCC.

By Coach

By Car

The Riverside is located just 1 mile outside Chester le Street, 4 miles outside Durham and 10 miles from Newcastle upon Tyne.

There will be extra parking arrangements for games and events which are expected to draw particularly large crowds.

It is not recommended that you try to park in the residential areas around DCCC.
