“Storm the Bastille!” they said, well for over a decade fans have been storming venues to see Bastille perform their own brand of indie, electro, alternative, pretty hard to classify, pop music.
Starting out independently Bastille soon signed to Virgin and in 2013 thier debut album "Bad Blood" went to No1 off the back of the epic, uplifting single "Pompei."
Second album "Wild World" (2016) also hit No1, refining their sound, adding more guitars and hooks, with lyrics reflecting the turmoil of the times.
After contributing to a cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s" Bridge Over Troubled Water", a benefit single for the victims of the Grenfell Tower Fire, Bastille scored a smash hit collaborating with Marshmallow on the track "Happier."
2019 saw Bastille release "Doom Days" an adventurous, imaginative concept album about a night at a house party. Each song reflecting the mood and atmosphere of a different time during the night. Sometimes joyous, always plaintive and melancholy, "Doom Days" reached no2 in the US.
Bastille scored another UK no1 album in 2022 with "Give Me The Future." Another concept album, this time taking in big tech companies, virtual reality and Philip K Dick. "Give Me The Future" set Bastille apart as one of the great culturally literate pop bands of our time.
