Blindness finally arrive with their eagerly anticipated debut EP Confessions. A sonically addictive three tracker, an industrial groove machine of an introduction, to one of today’s most exciting live bands already ripping up and tearing apart the UK music scene.
Confessions EP starts with the pulsating, amphetamine charged opening title track, with its searing feedback guitars, pounding bass line and a vocal hook so ridiculously addictive it should be made a drug of choice. ‘Confessions’ was made for the dance floor with the lights down low and the bass on full. ‘Broken’ seemingly pulls you back but don’t be fooled with it’s beautifully gliding vocals, electronic fills, and soaring guitars weaving an intricate and intriguing pattern of psychedelia that finally reaches an epic crescendo of sonic sized noise pollution with a brutal back beat of industrial sized proportions. Finally we arrive at the station marked ‘No One Counts’ a track hauntingly mesmerising, almost hypnotic in places with it’s laid back guitars and sleazy bass leading into a chorus that immerses the listener in a subtle explosion of colour and emotion a track which brings the EP to a fitting conclusion.
The Confessions EP is a dark and brooding, a twisted yet compelling record, a remarkable debut EP of sonic noise and chaotic reverb with emotionally charged vocals and juggernaut bass lines. So without further a do ladies and gentleman I give you Blindness: Beth Rettig – voice, Debbie Smith (Curve, Echobelly, Snowpony) – guitars, Kendra Frost – bass and now with the added rhythmic assault of Alex Lutes (Night Nurse) – drums. ‘Confessions’ EP a soundtrack for the 21st century.
