Steven Frayne aka Dynamo was born in 1982 and grew up on Bradford’s Delph Hill Estate, he first learnt to perform illusions from his Great Grandfather who taught him a trick to deter the school bullies.
His breakthrough came in 2006 when he made a documentary called Estate of Mind on Channel 4 as part of the broadcaster's Comedy Labs season.
And in 2011 his dream of a TV series became a reality when the first series of Dynamo: Magician Impossible aired on Watch to record rating viewers for the channel. It debuted on July 7, 2011, with an extraordinary stunt: Dynamo walked across the River Thames. It was an incredible feat; arguably the most extraordinary illusion ever performed in the UK, easily rivalling stunts by David Copperfield and David Blaine.
Awards have come thick and fast ever since: in fact, Magician Impossible is the most celebrated magic show on TV.
Last year Dynamo's autobiography, Nothing Is Impossible, was released by Random House and reached number six in the Sunday Times non-fiction hardback chart, with the paperback version due for release this summer in the UK.
It's an extraordinary list of achievements for anybody; never mind somebody who seemed to have the odds stacked against him for so long.
